The John E. and Kathryn S. Husted Pavilion, located next to the A. Boyd Claytor III Education and Research Facility, serves as an outdoor gathering space for environmental education classes, workshops, and community or family meals. Equipped with tables, benches, and a projection screen, the pavilion offers a functional and scenic setting for group activities. Dedicated on Oct. 18, 2001, it honors the parents of former Lynchburg College Dean Stewart W. Husted: Dr. John E. Husted (1915–1999), emeritus professor of geology at Georgia Tech and member of the Civil Defense Executive Reserve, U.S. Department of the Interior, and Kathryn S. Husted (1919–2000), a distinguished elementary school teacher.
