Otter Space is the Claytor Nature Center’s natural outdoor play space for elementary-aged kids. Featuring activities that are constructed with natural elements, Otter Space is designed to encourage exploration, imagination, and an early connection with the natural world.
A number of fee-paying groups reserve the space throughout the year and have priority use of Otter Space. We appreciate their efforts to encourage children to play in natural environments and we appreciate their financial support. When Otter Space is not reserved, individual families are welcome to visit without prior reservations. Reservations for school groups, parties, or retreats are required.
The Peaks of Otter chapter of Friends of the Blue Ridge is helping us spruce up Otter Space! Through their generous contributions of volunteer hours and financial support, the Friends are creating an amazing space for children and families to enjoy.
Children must be under adult supervision at all times.
